There is no encouragement of death and destruction that would make anyone upgrade their State Farm policy, rather the band Reconstruct the Dream prefers to play with a command from the heart, albeit one that pumps adrenalin in 8 beats per second, maneuvering in the thick of some violent eruption in poetic slow motion. Like what you would feel flying through a motorcycle jump into a hoop engulfed in flames.
These are not the notes of troubled youth disparaged, or endangered pedigree lost to the mass of cultural mediocrity, typical in the genre of hardcore indie. On the contrary, I found Reconstruct the Dream’s music a little more sophisticated in their medley of untamed heart unrested. And if you know them, their alter identities within the music industry should offer the level of their symphony, above all the noise.
Band members include are:
Jeremy Mendez – Vox
Chris Hopkins – Drums
Wesly Jackson – Bass
Nick Smith – Guitar
Their music set included the following titles:
1. 29 Palms
2. Ms. Clutch
3. Nihilist
4. Everything Else to the Left
5. My Name is Devastation
6. Drifter
Their second to the last song, My Name is Devastation, hit me the most. Standing directly in front of the stage speaker felt like photon beams rushing through my body. Kick drums, snares, bass, finger rolls, and vocals collided. Awesome.
RTD play with a state of peril but end every song with a light at the end of that tunnel.
The band played at North Park’s, Bar Eleven. Tonight they released their new track, Drifter.
Amazing review. Amazing pictures. Your diction and creativity with words along with these images really hit me. Thanks for everything. You’re extremely talented and I’m a huge fan of your work.
